The only problem is, since her father died in a car accident, she isn’t ready to get behind the wheel. Enter Roger. An old family friend, he also has to make the cross-country tripβ€”and has plenty of baggage of his own. The road home may be unfamiliarβ€”especially with their friendship venturing into uncharted territoryβ€”but together, Amy and Roger will figure out how to map their way.

my thoughts:
i was at my school’s library, where they were having a “blind date with a book” event. i picked one up and saw “romance” and “road trip” written on it and immediately thought of amy and roger’s epic detour. turns out, i was right, and i dove into it right away!

the beginning of this book was a little slow, but it picked up quickly. the plot was pretty well-paced, and it kept me thoroughly entertained. i especially loved the characters and the character development, which i thought was really well done. both of the main characters are quite likable, and i really liked how they got along. the romance was super cute, although i thought it escalated a bit too quickly near the end.

i also really loved the menus, pictures, and playlists inserted throughout the book, which really added a nice touch to the story.

overall, amy and roger’s epic detour was an enjoyable read that did not disappoint at all!
