book reviews

first post / the infinite moment of us review

hey guys! so this is my first post on my blog (as you can tell by the title), and i’m really excited to see how this goes! i’ll try to post at least once a week. if i take any photos, i’ll probably post everything at once, and hopefully i’ll be able to write at least one book review every week.

let’s get on to the review then!

the infinite moment of us by lauren myracle (warning: sex scene)

rating:
3.5/5

genre: YA, contemporary, romance

synopsis: For eighteen years Wren Gray’s goal has been the model daughter, which in her family means all As, zero boyfriend, and early acceptance into a pre-med program. But as high school graduation nears, so does an uncomfortable realization: Pleasing her parents once overlapped with pleasing herself, but now…not so much. Wren needs to honor her own desires, but how can she if she doesn’t even know what they are?

Charlie Parker, on the other hand, knows exactly what he wants. A gentle boy with a troubled past, Charlie has loved Wren since the day he first saw her. But a girl like Wren would never fall for a guy like Charlie—at least not the sort of guy Charlie believes himself to be.

And yet certain things are written in the stars. In the summer after high school, Wren’s and Charlie’s souls will collide. But souls are complicated, as are the bodies that house them…

my thoughts:

what i liked:

-the writing style was really nice, and i liked the narration, although i wasn’t a fan of the characters’ actual perspectives. the alternating perspectives in this book are also quite well done, in my opinion.

-i absolutely loved the book’s design. the cover was beautiful, along with all of the chapter pages.

what i didn’t like:

-the two main characters are both somewhat annoying. it seems like they can’t think of anything other than each other and sex, especially charlie. i disliked most of the characters, but i did like wren’s best friend.

-the romance was okay, but sometimes it was too physical. the sex scene was way too graphic for a YA novel, and it made me a little uncomfortable.

overall, this book didn’t feel special in any way, but it wasn’t bad.
